Term 4 - Discovery

Discovery time is an opportunity for your child to choose from a range of activities some of which are not offered during the normal course of the day.  Your child is encouraged to try different things.  The Key Competencies: Thinking, Relating to Others, Understanding texts and symbols, Managing Self and Participating and Contributing are embedded through Discovery time, as are the School Values.

Term 4 - Published Writing

WALT:

Publish our writing

Criteria:

·      Re-read our draft so that it makes sense

·      Go back and fix up mistakes

·      Copy our draft work correctly

·      Use our neatest hand writing  

Term 4 - Dance/Drama Integrated Topic

WALT:

Express ourselves creatively through dance

Criteria:

·      Learn the steps to the dance

·      Keep in time to the music

·      Follow instructions

Reading:

Te Reo Maori Mihi

We are learning to:

• Introduce ourselves in Te Reo Maori
• Communicate personal information, such as our name, parents' and grandparents' names and home town in Te Reo Maori

To be successful we need to:

• Speak clearly and fluently
• Use short simple sentences of Te Reo Maori to communicate personal information.

 

Gymnastics:

We are learning a range of balancing, rolling, jumping and travelling movements to incorporate into a floor routine.

Criteria:

• To incorporate at least two balancing movements
• To incorporate at least one jumping movement
• To incorporate at least one rolling movement

Term 1 Writing

We are learning to:

• Use a plan to organise our thoughts and ideas

Success Criteria:

• Record what our ideas look like, feel like and sound like

Term 2 Integrated Topic

We are learning to

• Sort and classify scientific information using a venn diagram.

Success Criteria

• Choose an attribute and sort different types of leaves
• Record the information correctly on a venn diagram

Term 2 Visual Art

We are learning to

• Craft a pencil sketch

Success Criteria

• Set the page limits
• Use curved lines and shapes appropriately
• Apply light and dark shading to specific areas

Term 2 Mathematics - Statistics

We are learning to:

• Ask questions
• Collect data
• Read our graphs

Success Criteria

• Ask on question to obtain data
• Collect data by using tally marks
• Graph our data using a column graph
• Make one observation from reading the graph

Term 2 Writing

We are learning to

• Edit our writing

Success Criteria

• Reread our first draft
• Underline words that need to be checked for spelling
• Use our dictionaries to correct spelling errors
• Re write sentences that do not make sense
